Our pups are born in our living room except in emergencies..

Gemma's first litter....her whelping story...

Labour commences

Gemma had puppies were due, but she decided she did not like all this labour business, and actually would not push.

She kept running into my daughters bedroom and nesting among the soft toys.

I gave in in the end and put the toys in the whelping box with her.......

Delivery success!

Within 40 minutes she had delivered this entire litter of absolutely beautiful babies..                    2 boys and 2 girls......

And the work begins in earnest....

An hour later, mum has had a loo break and a gentle clean up, then straight back to the whelping box quite happily to feed, clean and count these little ones yet again, just in case someones hidden one lol.

Home time

And all of a sudden, 8 weeks have flown past, and these babies are ready to go home.

Just beautiful!
